2 Player Chapman

A Chapman golf tournament, also known as a "Chapman System" or "Pinehurst System," is a type of team golf event typically played with two players on each team. It’s a fun and strategic format that combines elements of best ball and alternate shot. Here's how it's played:

 Format:

1. Each team consists of two players.

2. Both players hit tee shots.

The team members will each take a tee shot from the tee box, as with a standard round of golf.

3. Swap balls for the second shot.

After both players have hit their tee shots, they then swap balls. Player A will hit Player B's ball, and Player B will hit Player A's ball. This creates an interesting strategy, as players need to decide how to handle each other’s shots based on the location of the balls.

4. Play alternate shots.

From here, the team plays alternate shot for the rest of the hole. This means that one player hits the ball from the spot where the second shot was played, and then the other player takes the next shot, continuing to alternate until the hole is finished.

5. Best score for the team.

The team records the best score for the hole. In the Chapman format, this means that the team plays out the hole together, with the goal of getting the lowest score possible by combining both players’ shots and using strategy.

Key Points:

Tee shots: Both players hit their own tee shot.

Second shot: Players swap balls and play each other’s ball.

Alternate shots: The team alternates shots until the hole is complete.

Scoring: The team takes the best score between the two players for the hole.

This format is often used in both competitive tournaments and casual play, as it encourages teamwork and strategy, and can lead to some fun and unexpected results!
